*Workshop presentations are negotiated separately.

*Breaks (such as for meals) will also be charged at the above rates.

Minimum Charge:  A two-hour minimum charge will be placed regardless of actual time of interpretation (this does not include portal).  If an assignment ends after the hour, all times will be rounded to the next half hour.

Time billed:  Time is billed at the booked hourly rate and starts from the point of the interpreter's business (Newport News) to the interpreting location, roundtrip.  Additional fees may be assessed for parking, tolls, etc.

Cancellations:    Cancellations must be received with two business days' notice prior to the assignment via phone message or email.  Cancellations made later will result in the scheduled hours being charged in full (including time booked for travel).  Assignments scheduled to last more than two days, cancellation must be received five business days in advance.  In the event that the interpreter must cancel by reason of extreme circumstance, all diligence will be made to secure a qualified replacement.

No-shows: In the event the interpreter arrives to an assignment and either client does not show up, the interpreter will wait 30 minutes for either party. After the allotted 30 minutes, the interpreter will leave and charge the full amount for the original negotiated assignment.

Team Interpretation: A second interpreter may be required for the assignment due to length (ex. 2 hours or more), strenuousness, topic, or consumer.  If a team is requested and not provided, the interpreter reserves the right to quit the assignment with charge or proceed with the assignment at double rate.

Logistics: The interpreter reserves the right to confer with the Deaf consumer and make any decisions regarding placement, location, proximity, or any other factor related to positioning of the interpreter during any assignment.

Code of Ethics: Above any policy of the hiring party, the interpreter will uphold the Code of Professional Conduct for interpreters adopted by the membership of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc.

VDDHH Contract: Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Contract conditions will supersede the above conditions for companies/agencies that are presently contracted with the department.

Billing Information: Invoices are due within 30 days of issue, unless otherwise agreed upon by both parties, there is a $20.00 late fee applied to each 30 day increment there after. If payments are not made, any resulting court costs will be the responsibility of the hiring entity. Payments may be sent to: Sabrina Smith. Email: Sabrina.Tempie@gmail.com. Payments are also accepted via Venmo, Cash App, Apple Pay, and Zelle. CREDIT CARDS are also accepted and include additional fees.
